Letter from Chair of Trustees, James King

Dear Applicant,

Thank you so much for showing an interest in applying to join the
Board of World Child Cancer. We support children with cancer and
their families in Low and Middle Income Countries where we train
health workers, ensure children get a proper diagnosis and then
support the families with the costs of treatment. You can read much
more about what we do in the attached pack and on our website.

I have been on the Board for 7 years and am very passionate about
the impact that we have for some of the most marginalised children
in the world. We have an excellent staff team and many expert
volunteers who are all passionate about what we do.

We are a UK charity, registered with the Charity Commission, and we
have two sister charities in the US and in the Netherlands. We all
work together with a combined strategy (which is in the pack) to
reach as many children as we can – almost 9,000 last year.

We are now looking for a new Chair as I step down at the end of the
year, as well as new trustees to join the Board. If you would like to
apply please follow the process in the pack and let us have your CV
and covering letter by the Friday 12th August 2022.
Many thanks again and good luck!

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who are eager to be part of the next exciting phase of World Child Cancer. We are looking for new trustees with a range of skills and experience, different backgrounds and all walks of life.

We are keen to hear from potential Trustees who have experience in the areas of:

  • Fundraising, marketing and digital communications; and
  • Public health and health partnerships.

We are a passionate and results driven team with a genuine desire to innovate, collaborate and raise awareness to support children with cancer and their families across the world. We have an ambitious target to reach 16,000 children per year by 2025 and a key way for us to achieve that is through increasing our visibility and brand awareness.

At World Child Cancer, we deliver amazing programmatic work and have a strong case for support with inspiring stories to tell, like that of Sahara. We currently raise over £2m each year and have ambitions to grow to £5m by 2025 and increasing our profile along with an increase in reach and supporters is one of the key drivers of this growth.

Whilst meetings take place in the UK, Trustees do not have to be UK-based and we welcome international applications.

If you are excited by this opportunity and have the ambition and drive to help us achieve our goals, we would love to hear from you. Please download Trustee Information Pack below for full application process.
