Learn, Heal, Thrive: Supporting Education for Children with Cancer
This International Day of Education (24th January), we at World Child Cancer are highlighting a critical cornerstone of care: education.
For children facing cancer, education is more than learning—it’s a source of hope and a sense of normalcy. Education takes many forms, from tailored hospital school programs to specialised staff training, all of which play a vital role in supporting these children on their journey.
Join us as we launch our Learn, Heal, Thrive campaign in honour of International Childhood Cancer Day. Your support will benefit children with cancer and healthcare professionals around the world helping them access lifesaving education.
We’ll be shining a spotlight on four key aspects of education you can help fund over the course of the month:
Survivor Scholarships
Support childhood cancer survivors to achieve their dreams post treatment. Your donation provides opportunities for education and reintegration into their communities.
Healthcare Fellowships and Training
Help provide training for the next generation of pediatric oncologists, nurses, and pharmacists. For example, thanks to your support, Sierra Leone now has its first pediatric oncologist.
Play Therapists & Child Life Specialists
Invest in scholarships and healthcare positions that provide emotional support to children. In 2025, we are launching a MSc in Healthcare Play Therapy in Ghana, which will provide 20 scholarships to train play therapists in Sub-Saharan Africa to support the holistic care of children.
Hospital-Based Learning
Help children stay on track academically, even while undergoing treatment. In Malawi, our hospital-based school supported 787 children since August 2024, giving tailored support and opportunities for success.
From classrooms to clinics, your support ensures no child with cancer is left behind in their learning journey.
