About World Child Cancer
Most childhood cancers are curable. We know this because survival rates in the UK and Europe regularly top 80%. But for children in low and middle-income countries, the prognosis is bleak with their chance of survival below 30%.
The solution? It already exists. The challenge is making sure that every child gets the diagnosis, treatment and care they need. Yet in many countries, public and professional awareness of childhood cancer is dangerously low. Opportunities for early diagnosis are missed. Referrals are delayed. And there are not enough health workers with the specialist skills to diagnose and treat the disease.
It is children and families that pay the price.
Determined to balance this inequality, World Child Cancer works with local, regional and international partners in some of the world’s poorest countries to improve: Treatment, early diagnosis, family support and advocacy.
Created in 2007, World Child Cancer is a small yet fast-growing, ambitious international charity.
This role, a key part of our small but busy Community and Events Fundraising Team, will lead on the development and delivery of key fundraising events and activities, personally support and steward individual fundraisers and give support to the Individual Giving and Events Manager with our high value events and activity.
The post holder will in particular be responsible for these key areas:
- Supporting and inspiring community fundraisers including running and challenge event participants
- Supporting the Individual Giving & Events Manager to run special events, including an annual Gala Dinner.
- Ensuring data relating to fundraising activity above is accurately updated and effectively utilised
- Developing, managing and implementing the full portfolio of our community fundraising events and activities alongside the Individual Giving & Events Manager and Fundraising Assistant.
The post holder will be an ambitious, creative self-starter who is passionate about World Child Cancer’s programmes as well as our fundraising activities. They will work as well in a team as they do on their own and be happy to undertake administrative tasks as well as more complex fundraising projects. This is a varied and challenging opportunity to develop your fundraising career whilst supporting children with cancer.
